Taylor Swift: Yay or Nay?

I can't help it. I'm obsessed with Taylor Swift. And you know what, I am not totally sure why. But I just can't stop listening to her Speak Now album. Now, some of the songs [only two actually] are directly against my worldview. Take it with a grain of salt. But what I'm intrigued with most is that this little, pretty blonde girl has millions of people captivated with her. And here is my philosophy of why.

She's not the prettiest girl alive, so its not her looks alone.
She's not the most talented singer or musician in the world.

We are captivated by her because she's bringing her music to the streets. There is nothing airy or pompous about her. She just loves music and she loves people.

I just saw this episode where she tweeted to her fans that she was going to be on Hollywood Blvd and whoever was in the area should come say hi...thousand of people lined those streets. Why? Because she came to their level. She wasn't spending all her off-time on her tour sitting in her hotel room eating over-priced munchies and drinking sparkling water. She loves her fans.

After every show she has a T-Party where her team chooses ecstatically surprised fans to join her after the show to eat and visit.

::I heart that::

And I don't care what any musician critic says [including these guys], but most of her songs are so well-written. The format, hook lines, melodies, and word plays. I love it all. I'm pretty confident she's gonna make the history books.

So well done Miss Swift. I look forward to another good album. Just promise you won't get all crazy on us. You're good at what you do. Don't compromise. It's not worth it.

Love,

JM
